Book Project

The Historical Commission has begun a book project, and we need your help! This book will be used as a fund-raiser for the Edison House Project.

Our title for the new book has yet to be decided upon, however, we should expect to see something that lets people know that the book is comparing two time eras. The main focus of the book is to provide a past and present picture of either a Walker landmark, school, or area that our community can enjoy viewing and maybe even reminiscing a bit. A few of the "Mystery History" pictures that were such a hit in the Walker Advance will be showcased again, but most of the pictures will be from our archives or photos that we have not yet collected. This is where you come in to help us. We still have plenty of room for any old photographs that you would like us to showcase. We will take care of getting the ‘now’ photograph, but we really need your help in making this book a big success, so please let us know if you have anything to share. We all have these photographs in drawers and boxes just collecting dust, but the outpouring of support for the pictures that ran in the Advance has told us that the Walker community really does care about their past. Any picture that you would like to share can either be picked up by a Historical Commission member, or dropped off in the City Manager’s office during the weekday. All photos will be returned to you unless you designate otherwise within a week, so that you do not have to worry about giving away something that is of value to you. If you have any questions on this or any other Historical Commission matters, please call Gary Carey at 453-5851.
